The Garrett Staples Osteosarcoma
Research Fund
Established In Loving Memory of a Remarkable Young
Man
Anyone that knew Garrett Staples will tell you
about his smile. They may also tell you about his love for fishing
and boating, that he was
a great student, a wonderful friend, and an inspiration to everyone
around him. Garrett was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at the age of
nine and battled the disease with his infamous smile and strong spirit
for
five years.
With heavy hearts, family and friends said goodbye to Garrett Staples
on January 11th of 2005. He was only 13 years old. In honor of
Garrett’s
courage and strength, his family has established the Garrett Staples
Osteosarcoma Research Fund in conjunction with the Pediatric Cancer
Foundation. The dollars raised through this Fund will be directed toward
the Foundation’s newest initiative, The Sunshine Project,
which focuses its research on sarcomas.
